Nai Yakha,Mon political prisoner

The current Burmese military regime accused them of conspiracy for attempting to overthrow the regime and unjustly sentenced them to death on July 17, 2003. The sentences were later reduced to the life imprisonments. Nai Yekha and Nai Cheem Gakao were denied for a fair trial as there has been no rule of law and independent judicial system in Burma under the military government. Both of them were inhumanly tortured during interrogation by the interrogators and were forced to confess for a crime that they have never committed. They have been subjected to harsh prison conditions and treated inhumanely in notorious Innsein Jail.

Accordingly to his wife, Nai Yekha was faint in last August due to lack of best foods he received and he was lost consciousness about two hours in toilet.

In order to get more nutrition, his family planned to send more foods. But his family was denied to do so.

On July 17, 2003, the Burmese military regime accused him and his colleagues of conspiracy for attempting to overthrow the Burmese military regime and unjustly sentenced them to death. The sentences were later reduced to life in prison. One of his colleagues Nai Ong Lorn, 45, died in jail with an unconfirmed case on 28 September 2005. Now he and his colleague Nai Cheem Gakao have been in a notorious Burmese jail ever since.

Therefore, we strongly urge:
The Burmese military regime to immediately release Nai Yekha, Nai Cheem Gakao, and all political prisoners in Burma including Hkun Htun Oo, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, and other ethnic leaders.
